Bird Control
Birds can harbor disease organisms that may affect employees and customers, as well as their pets and other domesticated animals. Plus, their flocking, nesting, feeding or roosting in commercial areas is a nuisance as they deface buildings and contaminate stored products, including food.
Pest bird species include feral pigeons, starlings, grackles, and house sparrows. Diseases and ectoparasites associated with urban pest birds include Histoplasmosis, Orinithosis, Salmonellosis, Cryptococcosis, Aspergillosis as well as others.
Cook's approach to bird control involves Integrated Pest Management techniques. In some cases elimination of food or watering sources will provide control, or the solution may be as simple as installing a netting over an access area to prevent their entry.

- A survey to identify the pest bird and non-target bird species, activity patterns and habits, and population levels.
- An evaluation to determine if existing sanitation conditions are providing food, water and shelter areas for nuisance pest birds.
- Exclusion practices to keep birds off and out of buildings. Cook's exclusion methods rely on top quality bird netting, installed to minimize its presence yet guaranteed to provide years of service.
- In certain situations, the installation of bird repellants and other exclusionary devices. This will encourage birds to vacate buildings and nesting sites. Cook's offers the installation of a variety of ledge repellents, coils, wire strands as well as tactile repellants.
- Population reduction. In instances when previous steps are not practical, this may be required to reduce pest bird populations to acceptable levels. Cook's can provide proven expertise in designing and implementing a trapping program for several pest bird species.
